Bell Fire and Life Safety delivers end-to-end emergency lighting solutions, from code-driven design and photometrics to turnkey installation and preventive maintenance. We engineer egress illumination to meet UL 924 and life safety code requirements so occupants can find the way out when normal power fails.
Solutions include exit signs and combo units, bug-eye emergency fixtures, remote heads, wet-location luminaires, stair and path lighting, emergency inverters, and central battery systems. We integrate with generators and automatic transfer equipment, coordinate circuiting and controls, and provide photometric spacing to achieve compliant coverage.
NFPA, IBC, and OSHA-aligned programs
We align systems with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 70 NEC Article 700 and 701, IBC and IFC provisions, OSHA 1910.37, and UL 924. Designs target 90 minutes of emergency illumination, 1 foot-candle average along the egress path, no less than 0.1 foot-candle minimum, and a 40 to 1 uniformity ratio where required by the authority having jurisdiction.
We provide comprehensive annual 90-minute full-duration testing to ensure your emergency lighting systems remain code-compliant and reliable. We deliver digital logs and corrective action reports ready for AHJ review, and we address California Title 24 coordination, acceptance testing, and transfer performance to avoid nuisance trips and ensure reliability.
A clear process from assessment to sign-off
Assessment and planning start with a site walk, fixture and circuit inventory, and code-gap analysis. We produce a clear scope with photometric calculations, equipment schedules, and a phased plan that minimizes disruption to your operations.
During installation or retrofit, certified technicians mount and aim luminaires, add remote capacity, label circuits, and verify branch and emergency power paths. We handle inverters and central battery cabinets, generator interfaces, seismic anchorage, and as-built updates with rigorous safety practices.
Commissioning includes function tests, transfer timing verification, charger output checks, and battery health measurements, followed by training for your staff and detailed records. We stand behind our work and are C-10 licensed, insured, and UL Listed for your assurance.
